Rorisang Sechele is a skilled and qualified vocalist, songwriter, recording and performing artist; based in Pretoria. Her musical development started in the Jacaranda Children’s Choir whereafter she attended Pro Arte Alphen Park where she was classically trained and accomplished her music studies with distinction. She heeded the call of music once more when she went on to study Jazz and Popular Music at the Tshwane University of Technology, graduating Cum Laude in 2020.
In addition to having made it into the highly coveted Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Band in 2021 under the conducting guidance of Dr Nduduzo Makhatini, Rorisang Sechele has performed alongside Lisette Spinnler, Nthabiseng Motsepe, and Zenzi Makeba-Lee. As a member of The Anchored Quartet, conducted by Ofentse Pitse, Rorisang has worked with Sun-EL Musician, Simmy, Msaki, Ami Faku to name a few.
Rorisang was also a successful applicant for the Digital Mobility Fund 5 which was supported by SAMRO and the Norwegian Embassy which enabled her to stage a sold-out show, along with her band, in the Jazz in Jozi series. She formed part of the 2023 edition of the Youth Expressions Festival hosted by the South African State Theatre, and went on to be selected as an incubate in their 2024 Incubator Programme.
More recently, Rorisang has formed part of the Redbull Symphonic with Kabza de Small and Ofentse Pitse, placed as runner up in the Fine Music Radio Fund competition, released two singles as a solo artist, and staged a successful preview show of her upcoming EP.
